The Sarawak Government\u2019s consistent support for Chinese education was further demonstrated when two Chinese Private Secondary Schools (SMPC) in Miri received allocations amounting to more than RM1.55 million in a handover ceremony officiated by the Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The separate ceremonies were held on Tuesday at the auditoriums of Pei Min Secondary School and Riam Road Secondary School (RRSS), involving allocations of RM724,549 for SM Pei Min and RM833,890 for RRSS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his speech, Datuk Amar Dr Sim emphasised that Sarawak\u2019s policy of recognising Chinese education, including the recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), has now entered its tenth year, proving the state government\u2019s long term commitment to diversity based education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is not a temporary policy. It is part of the state building plan for Sarawak. Education is the foundation of our nation building,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stressed that Chinese education in Sarawak is not exclusive to any single community but is open to all Sarawakians regardless of race or background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, the allocations are part of the Sarawak Government\u2019s annual RM10 million provision for 14 Chinese Private Secondary Schools throughout the state, making Sarawak the only state in Malaysia to consistently provide large scale financial support for Chinese education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Deputy Director of the Pei Min School Management Board, Ting Jack Sieng, expressed appreciation for the continuous support from the state government, which he said has greatly helped the school provide a safer, more advanced and competitive learning environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also welcomed the announcement of Sarawak\u2019s free higher education policy starting in 2026, which will also benefit UEC graduates equally with students from other education streams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At RRSS, the Director of the School Management Board, Dato Sri Law Kiu Kiong, said the recognition of the UEC by Sarawak is a historic move that opens wider educational pathways for students and demonstrates the state government\u2019s inclusive approach towards human capital development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
