Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has refuted recent criticisms by Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen, describing them as inaccurate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Government under Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has already taken firm steps to strengthen Sarawak\u2019s healthcare system through the Sarawak Public Health Master Plan 2050.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Master Plan, launched by the Premier on April 9, 2025, demonstrates Sarawak\u2019s determination to build a stronger and more self-reliant healthcare system, while ensuring fair access to quality healthcare for all Sarawakians,\u201d Yap said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He explained that the state-funded plan identifies the need for new hospitals and clinics, upgrades existing facilities, and expands rural health and telemedicine services. \u201cThis is a comprehensive, long-term strategy to close service gaps and prepare Sarawak for future healthcare demands,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yap also reminded that while healthcare is a Federal responsibility, projects such as Lawas Hospital and Petra Jaya Hospital are progressing because the GPS Government consistently pressed the Federal authorities to act and helped facilitate implementation at the state level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that under GPS, rural clinics have been upgraded through state allocations and telemedicine initiatives expanded to serve remote communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
