SUPP Secretary General, Senator Datuk Dr, Sim Kui Hian said the party will identity new candidates that had been left vacant by suspended State assemblymen and will not compromise on a single seat come next State election.<\/p>\n

When asked that former sibu branch Chairman,\u00a0 Dato\u2019 Sri Wong Soon Koh from newly formed United People\u2019s Party (UPP) who wanted to contest in the 19 seats that belonged to SUPP, Sim said it was very strange that a person who claimed to be Barisan Nasional (BN) friendly would want to go against a BN component party.<\/p>\n

Sim said imagine a new party is formed due to disgruntled members and then tried to contest in the 35 seats of the PBB, how can that be friendly to BN? \u201cAs what Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) leaders had said, you touch one, you touch all. We will not allow outsiders to come to disturb us,\u201d he said. There are 71 state seats in Sarawak.<\/p>\n

After the Triennial Delegates conference on August 23, Sim said they will go down to the ground and groom the new candidates. He said even in the past, there are many capable leaders who could be a candidate in all the vacant areas. \u201cIdentifying one for each area is certainly not a difficult task,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Wong was joined by Ranum Mina (Opar), Jerip Susil (Bengoh) and Jonical Rayong (Engkilili) on July 17 where they announced the birth of UPP. Earlier two months before, the group had joined Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) which is headed by former President of SPDP.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, six\u00a0 resolutions were passed during the meeting.<\/p>\n

The resolutions included:<\/p>\n

– To fully support disciplinary actions taken by the Party central and the disciplinary committee against members who have breached the party\u2019s discipline.<\/p>\n

-To\u00a0 request party central to uphold the party\u2019s political pillars in serving the people without fear or favour, and shall uphold the core objectives of the party\u2019s participation in the government as well as to strengthen the election machinery, and to establish clear guidelines\u00a0 on political appointments.<\/p>\n

-To request party central to strengthen the ground work at non-constituency branches so as to enable such branches to build more political influence and able to assist component parties of Barisan Nasional at various constituencies.<\/p>\n

– To request the party central to set up special task forces that are empowered to make decision and to take immediate actions in handling crucial issues such as education, goods and service tax, security, youth and women.<\/p>\n

– To request party central to actively promote Sehati foundation and to widen its scope of function by providing financial aids to needy students, including talented youths.<\/p>\n

– To request Party central to facilitate the selection process of young, capable and professional candidates (both male and female)\u00a0 for all the 19 states seat allocated to the party<\/p>\n

A total of 243 members attended the TGM yesterday.<\/p>\n
