Miri Mayor and Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii Siew Sang has reminded the public to remain alert as scam cases continue to rise in various forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at a grant presentation ceremony at his Pujut Service Centre this afternoon, Yii warned that scammers are becoming increasingly cunning, with methods ranging from love scams and investment traps to even so-called \u201cpolitical scams.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSome scams involve fake music academies that ask students to pay registration, competition, or instrument fees, and in the end, the competition doesn\u2019t even exist. Victims usually only realise they have been cheated after losing all their money,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yii noted that scams now cover many aspects of life from love and career to online platforms and even the political field. \u201cSome individuals promise all kinds of benefits during elections, but once they are elected, they change completely. This too, in essence, is a form of political scam,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged the public to always stay cautious and not to trust online messages or unverified promises easily, to avoid losing their hard-earned savings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yii also shared updates on the Sarawak Poor Housing Repair Scheme (PPRMS), which was launched in 2018 to help low-income families repair dilapidated homes and ensure safe, comfortable living conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSince I was elected as Pujut assemblyman in December 2021, a total of 205 house repair cases have been completed, benefiting 830 people. Of these, 23 are in Tjuba, 82 in Piasau, and 99 in Pujut,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yii added that the programme is an important government effort to help grassroots families improve their living conditions. He encouraged all eligible residents in the N74 Pujut constituency who need home repairs to apply through his service centre, assuring that his office will do its best to assist them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
