Kota Sentosa State assemblyman Wilfred Yap has urged the opposition to focus on delivering results rather than making empty political statements, saying that leadership should be measured by action and accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the recent DAP Sarawak Convention once again highlighted the opposition\u2019s tendency to make appealing resolutions without depth or consistency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs the assemblyman for Kota Sentosa, I serve people of all backgrounds because true leadership is about fairness, not factional politics,\u201d Yap said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He criticised DAP\u2019s proposal to redefine \u201cnatives\u201d to include all third-generation Sarawakians of Chinese, Indian, or other descent, saying it ignored the need to protect the constitutional and cultural rights of Sarawak\u2019s indigenous peoples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTrue equality is about ensuring equal access to opportunities without undermining the heritage and identity of others. Sarawak\u2019s strength has always come from diversity, not uniformity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yap said unlike DAP\u2019s rhetoric, the GPS government delivers equality through transparent and merit-based systems, such as the e-Recruitment platform and the recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) for state civil service entry \u2014 something DAP has yet to achieve at the federal level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSarawak\u2019s financial success speaks for itself. Our revenue has doubled from RM6 billion in 2016 to RM14.2 billion in 2024, proving that GPS governs with discipline and transparency,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that entities such as the Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS) and Petros reflect the state\u2019s innovative and accountable approach to financing development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhile DAP continues to criticise, the GPS government continues to deliver results in flood control, housing, and rural infrastructure.
