{"id":33832,"date":"2025-10-06T10:56:40","date_gmt":"2025-10-06T02:56:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=33832"},"modified":"2025-10-10T10:59:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T02:59:10","slug":"miri-city-council-launches-2025-mayors-award-to-honour-community-heroes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=33832","title":{"rendered":"Miri City Council Launches 2025 Mayor\u2019s Award to Honour Community Heroes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Miri Mayor and Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii has announced the launch of the Miri City Mayor\u2019s Award 2025, an annual initiative by the Miri City Council (MCC) to recognise individuals, organisations, and communities that have made meaningful contributions to the city\u2019s growth and wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at a press conference, Yii said the award celebrates passion, dedication, and selfless service by those who have worked tirelessly, often behind the scenes in order to make Miri a better, safer, cleaner, and more vibrant city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Mayor\u2019s Award is a celebration of those who help make Miri thrive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award is open to individuals, organisations, NGOs, companies, and private sector entities that have contributed to Miri\u2019s progress. It welcomes Sarawakians, Malaysians, and expatriates, while international nominees may also be considered through invitation or recommendation by MCC or relevant stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yii said all nominations must demonstrate measurable impact and align with MCC\u2019s vision of \u201cMiri: Green, Smart, Most Liveable International Resort City\u201d, as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominees will be evaluated based on their impact on the community, innovation, leadership, voluntary service, sustainability, inclusiveness, cultural and educational contribution, and role in enhancing Miri\u2019s image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For 2025, the award categories are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tourism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safety and Security<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Youth, Culture, Arts, Sports and Talent<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Public Health<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community Works<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Media and Press, Social Media Influencer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open Category<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Special Awards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Yii added that the categories reflect Miri\u2019s multidimensional growth, covering areas from environmental sustainability and education to innovation and community service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The nomination period opens on October 7, 2025, and closes at 5 p.m. on November 7, 2025.
