MBKS councillor Eric Tay Tze Kok has welcomed Sabah\u2019s decision to officially recognise the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), describing it as a significant milestone for Malaysia\u2019s education landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said education should never be used as a political tool but instead carry the mission of nurturing future generations and building the nation\u2019s strength. \u201cOnly through education can society open pathways, cultivate talents, and continuously channel wisdom and strength for national development,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tay noted that Sarawak had taken the lead by recognising the UEC several years ago, and Sabah\u2019s move marked a new phase in the country\u2019s path towards educational diversity. He stressed that the next crucial step in Sarawak is to work towards free education so that more students can pursue their dreams without financial worries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEducation is not only the transmission of knowledge but also the spark that ignites hope and transforms destinies. Regardless of race, language, identity, or family background, everyone should have equal access and the right to education. Poverty must never restrict learning,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Looking ahead, Tay expressed confidence that other states in Peninsular Malaysia would gradually follow suit in recognising the UEC. He said nationwide recognition by the Federal Government would not weaken national unity, but instead reflect the strength of Malaysia\u2019s multicultural harmony while encouraging more talent to remain in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the nation\u2019s long-term progress depends on the wisdom and dedication of the younger generation. \u201cKnowledge is power. When education is aligned with the economy, technology, and culture, Malaysia can stand tall on the global stage,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
