Kota Sentosa State assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin has reaffirmed his full support for the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project, describing it as a visionary initiative by the Sarawak Government that will modernise public transport and enhance urban mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Praising Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg\u2019s leadership, Yap said the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) project demonstrates the State Government\u2019s commitment to sustainable, long-term infrastructure development that will benefit the people of Kuching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, he also raised serious concerns over complaints from Taman Stutong Indah residents about the conduct of contractors under Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd, the company managing the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAllegations such as requesting to use private electricity and failure to provide clear, timely communication are unacceptable,\u201d said Yap. \u201cSarawak Metro must not allow its actions or lack thereof to damage the reputation of the GPS-led government.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yap stressed that efficient and responsible project management involves early stakeholder engagement, proactive risk assessment, and effective communication\u2014not just during crises but from the outset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged Sarawak Metro to raise its standards and be proactive in dealing with community concerns. \u201cResidents deserve respect, not to be treated as an afterthought,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
