He said some portions of the road mentioned are situated on private land, which legally restricts the Council from using assessment rate funds for upgrades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe understand residents\u2019 concerns, but under existing regulations, MPP cannot use public funds to upgrade roads on private property,\u201d Tan Kai explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Responding to claims of double standards, Tan Kai described the accusation as \u201cuntrue and misleading.\u201d He pointed out that in 2023, Batu Kitang assemblyman YB Lo Khere Chiang had successfully secured nearly RM1 million under the Projek Rakyat initiative to unseal and upgrade several roads, with MPP acting as the implementing agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also noted that similar improvements have taken place in Batu Kawa, where the assemblyman actively channels his ADUN allocation to enhance infrastructure in the constituency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tan Kai expressed disappointment that instead of engaging the Council through proper channels, YB Chong\u2019s special assistant had chosen to politicise the matter.
