Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has extended his support to the Sarawak Chess Association with a Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant of RM5,000 to aid in its efforts to promote and develop the game throughout the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yap, who personally handed over the contribution to the association\u2019s president, Abang Reduan, said he firmly believes that sports especially mind sports like chess, play a vital role in shaping young people\u2019s character and thinking skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cChess helps build discipline, encourages strategic thinking, and strengthens the mental resilience of our youth,\u201d he said during a brief handover ceremony. \u201cThese are skills that will serve them well, not just in the game, but in life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also praised the association\u2019s continued dedication to nurturing young talent and pledged his ongoing support for grassroots sports development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
