Free training sessions are being held every Saturday at Picklepro Kuching, Tabuan Laru Family Club, as part of an initiative to promote healthy living and an active lifestyle through the increasingly popular sport of pickleball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, who visited the training session this morning together with Kuching South Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, commended the enthusiastic turnout and community spirit displayed by the participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRegular exercise is one of the most important ways to stay healthy and prevent illness. I\u2019m happy to see so many residents joining the training,\u201d said Dr Sim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He noted that the weekly pickleball sessions offer more than just physical health benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese activities encourage a healthy lifestyle. It\u2019s heartening to see how this initiative is fostering community bonding. I hope even more residents will take part,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of now, 168 participants have registered for the training, with more still signing up\u2014an indication of the sport\u2019s growing popularity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe strong response shows that pickleball has quickly become a trend in Kuching,\u201d Dr Sim observed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to the rising interest, he also revealed that plans are being considered to expand pickleball infrastructure in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are looking into developing more courts to meet the demand. Providing the right facilities is crucial in supporting an active lifestyle,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Sim also expressed his appreciation to MBKS for organising the community-focused programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want to commend MBKS for initiating and running this event. It\u2019s a great effort to create more opportunities for residents to stay active and healthy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants of the ongoing training sessions are also gearing up for the upcoming Kuching Festival Mayor\u2019s Pickleball Championship, which will be held on August 2 and 3.
