The school now calls on public donors and well-wishers to help raise the remaining RM3 million needed to complete the project.

He said the relocation was made necessary due to land constraints at the current site. In 2020, the Sarawak Government allocated a new plot of state land for the school, free of premium charges. Construction officially began on 10 October 2024 and is progressing rapidly, with completion targeted by March 2026 just in time for Primary 6 students to enjoy the new facilities.

The school currently has 85 students, of whom 17 are Chinese and 68 are Bumiputera. Encouragingly, since construction began, the school has recorded its highest intake in recent years, with 16 new Primary 1 students already registered for 2026.

While operational costs of Chinese primary schools in Sarawak (SJKC) fall under the Federal Government in Kuala Lumpur, Dr Sim disclosed that infrastructure costs are traditionally shouldered by school boards. The Chinese School Board, alumni, and community have long played a crucial role in fundraising efforts. With both ongoing school development projects showing solid progress, the public is once again urged to support this important cause.

He said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has consistently affirmed that Chinese schools in Sarawak serve students of all backgrounds, reflecting the state’s inclusive approach to education. He has also emphasised that education is essential to talent development and the foundation of Sarawak’s nation-building efforts.

Since 2020, he added that the Sarawak Government has provided annual financial allocations to Chinese primary schools, continuing a policy initiated in 2013 by the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem for Chinese secondary schools, and extended by Premier Abang Johari in 2016.

The Sarawak Government has approved a RM1.5 million financial grant to support the relocation of SJK Chung Hua Batu 11, bringing the total government contribution to RM4 million out of the estimated RM6.9 million required for the development of the new school.
