The Majlis Perbandaran Padawan (MPP) Gawai Dayak Open House 2025 was a vibrant celebration of unity, resilience, and cultural heritage, said MPP Chairman Tan Kai, who officiated the event on behalf of Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his speech, Tan conveyed Dr. Sim\u2019s apologies for not being able to attend the celebration in person, and extended a warm welcome to all attendees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is a great honour and joy for me to welcome all of you to the Sambutan Majlis Rumah Terbuka Gawai MPP 2025 \u2013 a meaningful occasion that reflects the unity, resilience, and cultural pride of the Dayak community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tan Kai praised the efforts of the organising committee, particularly Chairlady Councillor Roselin Lasek, for successfully bringing together communities across Padawan in the spirit of \u201cSegulai Sejalai\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stated that Gawai Dayak is more than a harvest festival as it is also a celebration of life, gratitude, and heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is a time to reflect on our roots, honour our elders, and uphold the values that define us as Sarawakians. This gathering reminds us of the importance of community and togetherness, regardless of our backgrounds,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also commended Kelab MPP for energising this year\u2019s celebration through a variety of booths set up by different divisions, which he said added colour and meaning to the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tan Kai then took the opportunity to thank both government and private agencies for their continuous collaboration with MPP in making Padawan cleaner, safer, and more sustainable. He also expressed appreciation for members of the media for their role in publicising MPP\u2019s work and helping the public stay informed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis celebration is not just about what we have achieved and also a moment to reflect on what more we can do,\u201d he said. \u201cWhether it\u2019s protecting the environment, supporting our youth, or working together for a sustainable and harmonious future, each of us has a role to play.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He encouraged everyone to use the celebration as motivation to sow seeds for future generations through education, cultural preservation, and environmental stewardship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
