Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian stressed on the importance of a healthy lifestyle within the community through a balanced diets and physical activities which can also promote well-being and strengthening social bonds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the Climate Run 2025, he noted that engaging in sports and exercise benefits not only physical health but also fosters a sense of togetherness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We want everyone to be physically healthy because if you are healthy, you can contribute ideas for Sarawak\u2019s progress. The healthier you are, the more you can serve the state and yourself,” he said. He added that regular hospital visits are not ideal, as they indicate underlying health issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Climate Run 2025 was organised by the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry and the Natural Resources and Environment Board held at the Kuching South City Council compound on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Sim reminded the public of its significant impact, even as Sarawak nears its net-zero target. He noted that changing weather patterns can lead to extreme conditions, such as the recent severe floods in Bintulu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Sarawak receives an average annual rainfall of around 3,000 millimeters, yet in just one day, Bintulu recorded 900 millimeters of rain. This extraordinary amount had a significant impact on local residents,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He urged the public to remain aware of climate change and work together to protect the environment, ensuring a safer future for coming generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
