Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian praised the Sarawak Government’s commitment to accelerate the development in Batu Kawa constituency by continuing to upgrade infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said one of the development is the continuation of rural road upgrade Phase 5, aimed at significantly improving road conditions for local residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This phase will cover 12 areas within the Batu Kawa constituency, including Kampung Rantau Panjang, Kampung Stapok Melayu, Stapok Utama, Kampung Sinar Budi Baru, Kampung Sinar Budi Lama, Jalan Ming Chung, Lorong Sin San Tu B, Lorong Kangkok, Lorong Kim Choo Sing, Lorong Sungai Tapang, Lorong Hua Soon, and Lorong Sejijak. A total of 273 households will benefit from this road upgrade project, covering a total length of 5.7 kilometers,” he explained during a recent inspection of an ongoing road upgrade project at Rantau Panjang, Batu Kawa, following the completion of survey and tender processes by the Padawan Municipal Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first phase in 2020, was completed by 12.48 kilometers of paved roads, benefiting 294 households. The second phase in 2021 added a further 4.56 kilometers, assisting 426 households, followed by another 3.55 kilometers later that year, benefiting 85 households. Last year, we completed almost a kilometer in the fourth phase to benefit the remaining 53 households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the past four years, close to 28 kilometers of rural roads in N14 Batu Kawa have been upgraded, benefiting 1,131 households. Given the extensive area of the Batu Kawa constituency N14 with many gravel roads, the road upgrade program will continue in a systematic and phased manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged residents to help with the supervision of works carried out by the awarded contractors and to promptly report any issues during the construction phase to his N14 Batu Kawa Service Centre.
