The 1,240 meter Tabuan river along Vivacity Mega Mall and Milan Square will be dredged with 15 meter base width soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarawak United Peoples party (SUPP) Woman Chief, Kho Teck Wan said the 400 meter behind Satria Residence and near Kampung Tabuan Dayak will also be dredged with base width 15 meter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This project is estimated to complete in 2 years and expected to resolved flash flood issue along Jalan Tabuan Dayak, Lorong Tabuan Dayak 10, 10A and 12, and SK Tabuan Jaya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said a detention one acre ponds, 3 reinforced concrete drains totaling 445 meter and culverts were proposed for flood mitigation at Federal Quarters at Jalan Durian Burung. This project which will also take two years will resolve flash flood issue at Federal quarters at Jalan Durian Burung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Kho, DID Sarawak stressed that although the proposed flood mitigation projects will resolve the flash flood issue at Jalan Batu Lintang and Sarawak General Hospital, it is not designed to prevent flood due to phenomena of high tide and drainage blockage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of May this year, DID Sarawak only received RM6.9 million for the payment of land acquisition at Batu Lintang area out of the RM150 million allocated to the Sungai Sarawak Integrated River Basin Development (PLSB) flood mitigation project for Bandar Kuching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DID Sarawak, she added is getting ready to call for the the tenders in early November this year and credits should go to Deputy Premier YB Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian and his team for making a working visit to Natural Resource, Environment and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, the outcome of such visit has managed to get the kind assistance from Minister Nik Nazmi to follow up with MOF to expedite all necessary processes including financial and administrative documentation by MOF<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Projek Pembangunan Lembaga Sungai Bersepadu (PLSB) Sungai Sarawak or Sungai Sarawak Intergrated River Basin Project was a federal funded project under the 11th Malaysia Plan approved during Dato Sri Najib\u2019s administration prior to 2016. It was approved to mitigate flood in the Kuching area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the overwhelming support shown by the voters in Bandar Kuching and Stampin to the Pakatan Harapan in 2018 General Election, the much-needed Kuching flood mitigation plan was put under review by the PH government after GE14 in 2018. After much delay the projects was finally given the green light to resume in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kho added that this morning, she with Kuching City South Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, Batu Lintang\u2019s state assemblyman See Chee How, Kota Sentosa State Assemblyman Wilfred Yap follow up with DID Sarawak on the progress of the flood mitigate project for the flood zones along Sungai Tabuan and Federal Quarters near Jalan Durian Burung area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DID Sarawak Deputy Director Law Wee and his team of DID engineers together with project consultant took them to the Jalan Tabuan Dayak and Federal Quarters sites to explain on how the new flood mitigation design will resolve flash flood issues in the neighborhoods along Sungai Tabuan and Federal quarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
