Yap, who is in his 50’s, said he is ever more receptive towards innovative and creative ideas from the youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even his Facebook page has memes which is something for the youth and he was receptive right from the beginning towards this kind of ideas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I’m going to promise the youth one thing, that I’m going to be very open to new ideas. The youth, the young people always have many great ideas, so we should not restrict them,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On a related topic, Yap talked about the development of e-sports where he pledges to venture into this field for the youth of Kota Sentosa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With e-sports already recognised in the Malaysia Games (SUKMA), he said Sarawak youths who are into e-sports are lacking the platforms to perform and improve themselves for the international or global stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“What I intend to do is to provide them with a platform. I will organise small competitions for the youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“And through these little competitions, they can sharpen up their skills, then they can move on to a bigger stage. That’s something I’m really, really interested in,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yap, who is also Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kota Sentosa branch chairman, said he too welcomes any youth to approach him either for assistance or advice, especially young entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With his legal profession, he said he could assist in the setting up of a company, a partnership or any related matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
