With the recent appointment of Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri as the 9th Prime Minister of Malaysia, SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) Chief cum SUPP Kota Sentosa Chairman Wilfred Yap hoped that the new Government would always place the needs of the people as top priority and revise the policy-making process to include more checks and balances through consultations with all stakeholders in their field of expertise and rely specifically only on scientific data which takes into account public interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After taking his oath of office and in his inaugural speech, he said Ismail Sabri spoke on \u201cKeluarga Malaysia\u201d and in the true spirit of inclusiveness of \u201cKeluarga Malaysia\u201d,the new Government will no longer drag its feet but also prioritise the restoration of the special rights of Sabah & Sarawak, as stipulated under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It is hoped that with the strong support of GPS Members of Parliament in the formation of the new Government, Sarawak will receive a bigger share of development funding in the 2022 Budget (as development funding have been lacking under previous Governments). It is only appropriate and fair that the new Government should prioritise infrastructure development in Sarawak to catch up with the other states in Malaya. To prevent inconsistencies in our fight against Covid 19 pandemic and to kick start our economy, it is hoped that the new Government will ensure an integrated framework for sharing of data and other resources amongst the various Ministries and government agencies. It is also crucial and pragmatic for the new Government to ensure a coordinated and cross sector approach amongst the various Ministries and State Governments which will definitely prevent confusion and U-turns as was prevalent in the previous Government in our fight against Covid 19 pandemic and in the management of the recovery of our economy from Covid 19 pandemic, ” he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On another unrelated matter,Yap continued to receive complaints and request for assistance on various matters. One example of such such request for assistance was received from residents staying at Borneo Gardens, Jalan Lapangan Terbang, Kuching to highlight and bring to the attention of the relevant authorities on the flash flood predicament that they are currently facing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yap said SUPP PCB thanked JKR for clearing the overgrown weeds and deepening the earth drains along Jalan Lapangan Terbang as a temporary solution to the flash flood problem of residents of Borneo Garden. However, he hoped that the authorities concerned will provide a long term solution by allocating development funds for the upgrading of all the existing earth drains along Jalan Lapangan Terbang to keep up with the needs of the fast development for the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
