{"id":28919,"date":"2021-08-04T16:02:00","date_gmt":"2021-08-04T08:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=28919"},"modified":"2021-08-05T16:05:55","modified_gmt":"2021-08-05T08:05:55","slug":"datuk-sebastian-ting-says-more-facilities-should-be-user-friendly-for-oku","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=28919","title":{"rendered":"Datuk Sebastian Ting says more facilities should be user-friendly for OKU"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Piasau State Assemblyman, Datuk Sebastian Ting urged more public facilities to be user-friendly for the disabled community to allow them to go about their day-to-day routine with greater ease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ting who is also Tourism, Arts and Culture Assistant Minister, said the facilities such as public buses with hydraulic lifts for wheelchair users, tactile blocks at walkways for the blind and audio systems to assist disabled pedestrians at traffic lights, should be part of the basic facility in Miri City to improve mobility and make life easier for the disabled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said barrier-free facilities not only give the disable convenience in moving around confidently but allow them to feel to be part of the community and society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ting was handing over a seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) to Miri Ability Services Association (Masa) on Sunday and he thanked Masa\u2019s proposed barrier-free vehicle to provide affordable car ride services for wheel-chair users, adding that it ws a first step towards creating an obstacle-free community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second-hand MPV was donated by a group of good samaritans costing about RM80,000 which can fit three wheelchairs at any one time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the transport, Ting added that it will help a lot especially sending those who in need to go to hospital for check up, treatment, Physiotherapy, their family outings and sporting activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/piasau_donate_02.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28921\" width=\"520\" height=\"390\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/piasau_donate_02.jpeg 960w, https:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/piasau_donate_02-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/piasau_donate_02-768x576.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Piasau State Assemblyman, Datuk Sebastian Ting urged more public facilities to be user-friendly for the disabled community to allow them to go about their day-to-day routine with greater ease.
