Dr. Sim said for those who received the first jab of Sinovac, AstraZeneca or Pfizer will be given the same second dose after July 22, this being so as National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has announced the Sinovac will complete its 12 million vaccines supply in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sarawak opted to use the single-dose Cansino vaccine for the Covid-19 immunisation programme in the state\u2019s rural and interior areas to expedite vaccination in order to achieve herd immunity by the end of August. A total of 650,000 doses of the Cansino vaccine was requested from the federal government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Khairy explained that Malaysia\u2019s decision to stop giving Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines is because the country will receive its completed delivery order by the end of July, and denied that the decision was due to concern of the vaccine\u2019s efficacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Dr Sim said so far, a total of 72 per cent eligible adult population had been vaccinated with their first doses or equivalent to 1,579,474 doses as of July 19 while 932,931 second doses have been administered which is equivalent to 45.7 percent of the eligible adult population. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said it was made possible due to the unity in the fight against covid 19 and the cooperation of Sarawak and Federal government in rolling out the vaccine in Sarawak.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
