SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief cum SUPP Kota Sentosa Chairman Wilfred YAP said he does not want to be dragged into a \u201cchildish\u201d and \u201cBlame Game\u201d argument with DAP on the plight of residents in Stampin Resettlement Scheme within Kota Sentosa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yap who responded to DAP’s accusations of him not knowing the facts of Stampin Resettlement Scheme said its existence could be traced back to the efforts of SUPP who secured the TOL land for squatters from all over Kuching and SUPP understands their plight and predicament. The real issue for the residents is whether DAP is effective as a conduit\/channel to the Government for securing development funding in Kota Sentosa when compared to constituencies represented by GPS\/SUPP elected representatives (YBs). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has with community leaders and SUPP Kota Sentosa members during their frequent \u201cturun padang\u201d activities are regularly approached by residents for assistance to carry out improvement and repair works to damaged infrastructure facilities like burst pipes, faulty street lighting, drains and roads. Following such requests for assistance received, the problems are always communicated to the relevant authorities for their immediate action to rectify the complaints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a recent \u201cturun padang\u201d visit to Stampin Resettlement Scheme, the residents had complained about a burst main water pipe at Lorong 23, Jalan Stampin Baru causing great inconveniences to them. Following the request for assistance received, the complaint was immediately communicated to Kuching Water Board and the burst main water pipe have been repaired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though Kota Sentosa is represented by DAP, Wilfred Yap will continue to speak out for the people of N.12 Kota Sentosa and appeals for the Government to place \u201cpeople above politics\u201d to increase development funding, especially for Stampin Resettlement Scheme. Such allocations are urgently needed for the reconstruction and upgrading of old and dilapidated roads and drains as infrastructure development in Stampin Resettlement Scheme in N.12 Kota Sentosa have been left behind during the last fifteen years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The need for development funding in Kota Sentosa constituency (which also covers Stampin Resettlement Scheme) is because of the fast increasing number of residents living in the area and the reality is that the assessment rates paid by the residents to Kuching South City Council and Padawan Municipal Council is never enough to carry out the necessary upgrading of infrastructure projects to better the lives of its residents and hence the need for the increased funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
