{"id":25744,"date":"2020-03-13T20:03:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-13T12:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=25744"},"modified":"2020-03-13T20:51:47","modified_gmt":"2020-03-13T12:51:47","slug":"high-court-in-kuching-dismissed-judicial-review-application-of-petronas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=25744","title":{"rendered":"High Court in Kuching dismissed Judicial Review Application of Petronas"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Sarawak Government has been right all along to impose the 5% State Sales Tax (SST) on the exported petroleum products in Sarawak, said Secretary general of SUPP, Datuk Sebastian Ting.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ting said Petronas as a national oil company must abide the state law and pay like all other oil companies operating in Sarawak and that it is&nbsp; our right to impose sales tax comes under Article 95B (3) of the Federal Constitution and Paragraph 24 of the Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) Report that Sabah and Sarawak may make laws for imposing sales taxes, and any sales tax imposed by the State law in the State of Sabah and Sarawak shall be deemed to be among the matters enumerated in the State List and not the Federal List.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that Petronas should not appeal against this decision and delay the payment further.
