Political Secretary to Chief Minister of Sarawak, Tan Kai\u00a0 asked MP\u00a0for Stampin, Chong chieng Jen to should explain whether the funding\u00a0given to repair SJK Stapok Chung Hua was from the\u00a0 50 million\u00a0allocation from the previous government.<\/p>\n

Chong who is also the Deputy Minister for Domestic Trade and\u00a0Consumerism Affairs had announced RM200,000 for the school on Sunday\u00a0when the roof of a computer\/music room was blown off in a freak\u00a0weather last week. Chong has also given an allocation of RM10,000 from\u00a0his constituency fund.<\/p>\n

Tan Kai said the so-call RM75,000 announced by Chong and an additional\u00a0of RM125,000 is an annual allocation or special allocation to repair\u00a0the roof. If, he added, it was an annual allocation then where is the\u00a0annual allocation for other SJK (C) in Sarawak for year 2018?<\/p>\n

He pointed out that Education is under Federal government\u2019s\u00a0jurisdiction and the maintenance shall be their sole responsibility\u00a0but there are many dilapidated schools required immediate funding for\u00a0maintenance and upgrading.<\/p>\n

The PH government cannot fulfilled their manifesto to return the oil\u00a0royalty of 20% and return the education autonomy to Sarawak.<\/p>\n

Tan added that since November 2015, Minister of Local government and\u00a0Housing, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian has successfully obtained grants\u00a0amounting of RM 1,195,000.00 for SJK (C) Stapok via the platform of\u00a0Parliament Senator, YB Batu Kawa and Sarawak Cabinet Minister as a\u00a0people\u2019s representative responsibility and his support\u00a0 towards\u00a0Education for betterment of next generation.<\/p>\n

He said Dr Sim will continue to provide assistance for the completion\u00a0of the Multi Purpose Hall of SJK (C) Stapok and hope that\u00a0 Chong will\u00a0also help to ensure the project materialized as Sarawakian interest is\u00a0always on top priority.<\/p>\n

Urging the Federal PH government to learn and follow Sarawak\u00a0Government for the increasing allocation to Chinese schools every year\u00a0and recognition of UEC, Tan reminded them that they are from Sarawak\u00a0and pursuant for\u00a0 funding from Federation Government is always of\u00a0paramount issue.<\/p>\n
