Unfair discriminations which focus on one race instead of helping all\u00a0the poor from all races should be do away with and that was the\u00a0failure of the New Economic policy (NEP)in the past, said State\u00a0Assemblyman for Batu Kitang, Lo Khere Chiang.<\/p>\n

Lo pointed out that it was due to this type of policy that erodes our\u00a0trust in one another as he expressed his sadness when Prime Minister,\u00a0Tun Dr. Mahathir had again affirmed action policy favouring Malays in\u00a0a BBC iinterview recently.<\/p>\n

He questioned how it would be possible to attract back talents from\u00a0overseas when the policies remains the same as it was due to unfair\u00a0policies that forced Malaysians to migrate.<\/p>\n

“Before winning the election, Pakatan Harapan (PH) claimed that they\u00a0would bring changes in the new government but it appears that it is\u00a0just the same old policies with not much change. PH had banked on the\u00a0policy to win the election by stating fairness and justice to all.\u00a0After winning, many have kept quiet when the PM goes on and on about\u00a0how to help one particular race. There is no need to specify which\u00a0race to help when we bring all races to be at par with one another. We\u00a0just need to tax the rich and the successful and to\u00a0 help the poor\u00a0irrespective of race and religion. Those who work hard will be\u00a0satisfied with the fairness and will pay taxes willingly and\u00a0accordingly,” he said.<\/p>\n

Lo said the government of the day only needs to provide good\u00a0hospitals, maintain good doctors, provide good and affordable\u00a0education and provide affordable housing within the reach of every\u00a0citizen.<\/p>\n

He stated that ever country needs these capitalists to create business\u00a0opportunities and industries as they create employment opportunities\u00a0for workers and professionals alike. Only then will wealth in a nation\u00a0multiply. The private sectors are the economic movers. The government\u00a0of the day facilitates and regulates.<\/p>\n

Urging the people not forget the neglect of poor Sabahan and Sarawak\u2019s\u00a0Bumiputeras, Lo said in the rural areas where the majority of the\u00a0Dayak lives, they are the worst off. “They do not have proper roads or\u00a0access to electricity and water supply all these years.Thus, I wonder\u00a0how\u00a0 PM Tun Dr Mahathir is going to achieve a developed country by\u00a02025. He is always on about Penisular Malaysia and it is obvious that\u00a0he does not have Sabah and Sarawak at heart,’ he asked.<\/p>\n

Lo added that Tun Dr Mahathir\u2019s intention is to brand Malaysia Baru as\u00a0\u2018democratic, equal, fair and just\u2019, then he should support the people\u00a0from both Sarawak and Sabah to determine their future. He said he\u00a0should start by tabling in parliament to respect MA63 and to return\u00a0all rights and priviledges to Sarawak and Sabah as enshrined under\u00a0MA63.<\/p>\n
