A SUPP potential candidate for Stampin, Wilfred Yap Yau Sin said this\u00a0is the time for SUPP to win this coming GE 14.<\/p>\n

Yap who lost to DAP Chong Chieng Jen in the last State election in\u00a0Kota Sentosa constituency, is likely to face DAP new face, Dr. Kevin\u00a0Yii.<\/p>\n

Yap has recently challenged his old nemese, Chong to face him in\u00a0Stampin saying that he has no worries about Chong who is losing\u00a0popularity in Stampin.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do not take public support for granted like Chong. This time I\u00a0can really feel the pulse of the people on the ground. Since 2012, I\u00a0have been working on the ground. In the beginning, there are many who\u00a0did not welcome me. This time, many people would come forward and\u00a0shake my hands, giving me the encouragement to continue working hard,\u201d\u00a0he said.<\/p>\n

Assuring the people that SUPP is different under its present President, Datuk Dr.\u00a0Sim Kui Hian, Yap said SUPP delivers what was promised.<\/p>\n

He added that the people\u2019s feeling was understandably dissatisfied due\u00a0to a lot of things promised by their YB in their area, especially\u00a0Kuching, were not fulfilled. The people only saw the real\u00a0transformation when the late Chief Minister, Pehin Sri Adenan Satem,\u00a0took over the helm of the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith SUPP being a component party of the Barisan Nasional, we joined\u00a0force to fight for autonomy and certain things were already in place\u00a0e.g English being an official language for government, recognizing\u00a0Unified Examination Certificate graduates to join the government\u00a0services and so on. The rest, we need to work out slowly due to\u00a0documentations involved,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Yap also hit out at certain quarters who kept on harping that people\u00a0are not enjoying economy growth. He said the statement is really\u00a0misleading as the Prime Minister had pointed out that there are a lot\u00a0of Malaysians travelling on holidays overseas.<\/p>\n

\u201cI agree – if Malaysians can go overseas, how could anyone say economy\u00a0is bad?. Instead, I think economy is bad in Penang. Look at the high\u00a0cost land premium in both Opposition held states, Penang and Selangor.\u00a0The Penang government promised a lot of things but could not construct\u00a0low cost housing. Toll charges were not abolished but instead had gone\u00a0up despite the election promise in 2008 that toll would be abolished\u00a0if they took over the government,\u201d said Yap.<\/p>\n

Yap felt that the burden on Sarawak BN is heavy this coming election\u00a0as he stated that they cannot rely much on West Malaysia, whether it\u00a0is PH or not. \u201cThe West Malaysian likes to play racial politics. In\u00a0Sarawak, we are all multi racial. Every party is multi-racial one even\u00a0PBB which have Dayak members. There is a vast difference between\u00a0Sarawak and Federal BN. In Sarawak, our former Chief Minister, Pehin\u00a0Sri Adenan Satem bravely took the lead to go against RUU 355. We in\u00a0Sarawak are actually the third force,\u201d he pointed out.<\/p>\n

Since taking over SUPP public bureau complaints, Yap said he sees it\u00a0as a joy to help the people. He called it is a divine blessing to be able\u00a0to help people. In the past, he said despite doing so much, people\u00a0were not just appreciative or grateful. \u201cNow whenever I go to deal\u00a0with a complaint or visit coffee shops to greet voters, I am always\u00a0welcomed. There are many who encouraged me to work hard and they can\u00a0see that SUPP is doing a lot to help the people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Calling to Sarawakians to make a wise decision when voting this coming\u00a0general election, Yap said they have to see into the future before\u00a0casting their votes. He urged the people to go back to history to see\u00a0who have been helping the people and who did not.<\/p>\n

Sarawakians must open their eyes wide to see the truth so that they\u00a0could not be lured to vote in someone who just sit there and not lift\u00a0a helping finger to help the people. \u201cOnly we in BN can help,\u201d he\u00a0added.<\/p>\n
