This, he said, included the Continental Shell Act 1966, Petroleum Act 1974, Teritorial Sea Act 2012, National Security Council Act, Tourism Act and Land Tax bill (which has been withdrawn).

Informing on the Parliament of DUN Sarawak’s motion on November 9 recently, he said they had a high level special task force from the state and Malaysian government with power to meet about restoring Sarawakian rights. He appreciated the PM”s commitment of MA 63 during Malaysia Day this year during the latter’s speech in Kota Kinabalu.

Dr. Sim requested for one-third of Parliament to be from Sabah and Sarawak as PM had said 30 percent of senate can be women, so why not start on that in Sabah and Sarawak. He also called for more access to government senior Management posts.

Sarawak, he pointed out, with a population at less than 10percent of total, has been contributing 10 to 20 percent of Malaysia GDP for a long time. He urged that funding should not be looking at the size of population but geographically. Funding for Rural electricity and rural water supply should be given to Sabah and Sarawak rather than Putra Jaya. He cited an example where there was funding needed for Batu Kawa flood mitigation, drains, river banks and parks.

A sum of RM1 billion is needed to repair dilapidated schools in Sarawak. Dr. Sim said the implementation should go direct to Sarawak and not through Putra Jaya. Tourism, he said, needed to include Sarawak and not just West Malaysia.

Calling for Sarawak own Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ), Dr. Sim said the DFTZ should not just stop in Penisula but extended the presence here for Sarawakian’s benefits. Jack Ma should be invited here as Sarawak wants support for world class technical and vocational training. The Higher Education, he added, should also train more graduates in Cyber security.

He pointed out despite being 25 years UNIMAS, which is also the 5th public university, did not have its own teaching hospital. He called for the Federal to be fair. Sarawak needs a dedicated Cancer centre like the PutraJaya cancer hospital too.

Dr. Sim

Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian has highlighted several issues in the Parliamentary sitting recently among it, touching on MA 63 for Sabah and Sarawak.
