On that same day we emphasized that we will pursue matters that is related to Crime, Corruption and Cons with vigor and without fear or favour.

With relation to this mission we have consistently tried our very best to highlight as much as possible Cons especially ones that are spread in the digital world of social media.

Recently we have highlighted two different scams or cons by unscrupulous people.

We have called this press conference today to highlight another possible scam, which is actually ongoing and has already hurt 21 individuals. Some of the individuals are here with us today and we will give an opportunity for their spokesperson to speak shortly.

The scam we are speaking of involves a west-malaysian based company that marketed, recruited and sold data vending machines to the victims with promises of big returns and delivery of the machines within a period of time.

What we can say here is that the company like many other scam companies did deliver in the beginning but today we can confirm that at least 21 victims in Kuching alone has not received the promised machines for over a year and they are still waiting. Their outlet in Kuching is now closed and no answer is forthcoming from their representatives.

Some of the victims are members of our branch and came to the exco with complains that despite making police reports they feared that the case was closed and no further action was going to be taken.

My committee and I have since spoken to and had good and constructive discussions with the police department, particularly with the Commercial Crimes Department both at divisional and state level. These discussions have cleared the air on the misconception that the cases are closed.

The Head of the Commercial Crimes Department in Sarawak YDH Supt. Mustapha Kamal has assured us that the cases are far from closed. The police will pursue this case till the end and we are confident that the culprits will be brought to justice in due course.

We however have to refrain from sharing further details of the case for fear that the culprits may abscond or try to cover their tracks. In the interest of justice for the 21 know Kuching Victims we abide by the request from the police.

SUPP Stakan has also highlighted another con recently involving perpetrators using high jacking the telephone numbers of reputed banks and even police stations to con their targeted victims.

We ask that the public come out and help the police, pleas do make police reports at your nearest police station personally. With all your reports the police will be able to detect the different tactics being used by these criminals.

We know that there are many of you in other parts of Sarawak that may be victims, we urge you all to come forward and report your cases to your nearest police station. If you have encountered something similar to what we have described today please report it to the police.

The police are here to help us but they will need all of our help as much as possible. Together we can make Sarawak better and safer. Lets all do our part.

Sim Kiang Chiok

Chairman

SUPP Stakan Branch

Supp Stakan Branch started operation on the 9th December 2016 and on the first day we put out our mission that is to combat what we described as the 6Cs of politics that matter most to the voter.
