The State government should review the existing electricity tariffs\u00a0to a lower rate (though Sarawak’s electricity is one of the cheapest\u00a0in the region) benefiting the people of Sarawak following the take\u00a0over so that Sarawakian would enjoy cheaper energy thus reducing the\u00a0burden of the people.<\/p>\n
3. Since Bakun dam is able to produce ample energy, priority should\u00a0first be given to Sarawakian and this includes providing power supply\u00a0to the rural and inland areas where the power supply grids are still\u00a0scarce & lacking.<\/p>\n
4. As Sarawak is a big state and its population is sparsely populated,\u00a0there are still people living in the inland areas who are suffering\u00a0from lack of water and electricity supply. This is totally intolerable\u00a0& inexcusable as Sarawak is a rich state with abundance of resources.\u00a0It is the responsibility and obligation of the government to ensure\u00a0that every Sarawakian has access to equitable water and power\u00a0supplies.<\/p>\n
5. The take over is also considered as a significant move in the\u00a0progress of claiming our State’s economy autonomy.<\/p>\n
6. Sarawak still has a number of autonomy terms to take back from the\u00a0federal government. Sarawak government needs strong support and big\u00a0mandate of its people, especially in the upcoming federal election, to\u00a0negotiate with federal government in accordance with the terms as\u00a0spelt out in the Malaysia Agreement 1963.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
