The landslide victory of BN in Balingian shows the clear support of BN and the new Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem who has made it very clear that he is a Chief Minister for all Sarawakians.

SUPP Youth strongly believes that race should not be an issue when it comes to the appointment of the Chief Minister of Sarawak as the State Constitution of Sarawak does not prohibit any Sarawakian of any race or ethnic background from becoming the Chief Minister of Sarawak. For that matter, even a Sarawakian Chinese can be the Chief Minister of Sarawak if he/she can command the support of the majority of the elected DUN YBs. The landslide victory of BN in Balingian also clearly shows that race based or communal politics have no place in Sarawak and consequently SUPP Youth believes that the only criteria is that the Chief Minister should be one for all Sarawakians.

“If anyone can still remember Sabah’s former Chief Minister Yong Teck Lee, he is Chinese. Apparently DAP leaders have forgotten the fact that majority of the Chinese voted for them during the past many elections. They were elected and are enjoying highly paid salaries because majority of the Chinese voters had given them strong mandate. But now that they are eager to tap into the Bumi majority areas and they are singing in a completely different tune. I wonder how the Chinese voters feel. Forsaken perhaps?”

SUPP Central Youth Secretary General Wilfred Yap said in a statement today, that DAP leaders have failed miserably to stand for the rights of the Chinese voters, particularly those who had trusted them and voted for them by coming out with such irresponsible statement. And for that, he added, SUPP Central Youth demands that DAP should apologize to all the Chinese voters in Sarawak who had given the DAP leaders their trusts during the past elections because instead of fighting for a Chinese Chief Minister, their leaders are asking the Chinese voters to give up their rights in this regards.

SUPP Youth also strongly condemns the recent statements from PKR questioning the rights of Sarawak to prohibit the entry of certain PR leaders to Sarawak as this amounts to an utter disrespect of Sarawak on immigration matters provided very clearly under the 18 points in the Malaysia Agreement. SUPP Youth strongly support the preservation of Sarawak’s rights on immigration matters and strongly agree with the recent decision of the Sarawak Government to prevent the entry of certain individuals for the sake of peace and harmony in Sarawak.

Lastly, SUPP Youth strongly urges all Sarawakians to reject the communal and race politics of West Malaysian based political parties and to fully support the new Chief Minister of Sarawak to move the state of Sarawak to greater heights. Together, let us all (young or old) being true Sarawakians say “TAK NAK” to Pakatan Rakyat who is going all out to create disunity amongst the people of Sarawak.

SUPP Youth strongly condemns the provocation/rhetoric by DAP that DAP wants a Dayak as Chief Minister as this amounts to a clear disrespect to the wisdom of the people of Sarawak as seen through the rejection of PKR a component of Pakatan Rakyat in the recently concluded By–election in Balingian.
