SUPP Publicity Chief, Dato\u2019 Sebastian Ting praised Chief Minister, Tan Sri Adenan Satem for getting the history correct of how Malaysia was formed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ting pointed out that in a recent interview with the media, Adenan stated that Sarawak is an autonomous state according to the Malaysia Agreement. He had said \u201cWe did not join Malaysia, we are a party to the formation of Malaysia. There was no Malaysia to join before the signing of the Malaysia Agreement. We are equal partners in the federation\u201d.<\/p>\n

Having always emphasised that Sarawak itself is a country, Ting pointed out that Sarawak is indeed an equal partner like Sabah where Malaysia is concerned.<\/p>\n

He said on July 22 1963, Sarawak gained independent from the colonial rule and on September 16, 1963, Sarawak, Sabah, Singapore and Federal Malaysia formed Malaysia.<\/p>\n

Ting said Adenan\u2019s emphasis on the formation right at the beginning of his new role showed what a mature leader Sarawak has. \u201cWith Adenan at the helm, we are heading for better days ahead,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The party\u2019s Youth Chief, Tan Kai said whoever as the Chief Minister of Sarawak must always remind Sarawakian, particularly younger generation that we are an autonomous state and a partner in Malaysia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe always practice a unique way of ruling the state within our own jurisdiction. At the same time, we must also maintain a good relationship with the federal government to ensure the stability and harmony which we have been doing all this while,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

SUPP Woman Central Chief, Tnay Li Ping said the Chief Minister has made a very clear and firm remark right in the beginning of his taking over the CM post.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis clear stand on Sarawak shows that he is a no nonsense type of leader who first thought would be on Sarawakians in his policies. I believe that Adenan would bring Sarawak to a brighter future,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
