Bong Lian Huan from Sarawak United Peoples&#8217; Party (SUPP)\u00a0(Kuching Branch) call to historian to ensure that history books give a true\u00a0picture of Sarawak and Sabah&#8217;s partnership in forming\u00a0Malaysia with Malaya in 1963.<\/p>\n<p>Bong who was representating Datuk Lily Yong to officiate the opening\u00a0ceremony said the present history books did not portray a true history\u00a0on the involvement of Sarawak and Sabah. &#8220;These should be rectified to\u00a0give a correct picture so that the younger generation will know the\u00a0meaning of the dates of Independence and the formation of Malaysia and\u00a0other significant dates in the country,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>On another matter regarding the Election commission re-delineation\u00a0proposed exercise, Bong said democratic ways must be considered and taken into account on\u00a0redrawing the boundary as it would have a negative effect if one\u00a0particular race was to cover all the constituencies or the effect of\u00a0gerry mandering.
