The Chinese community had enough of it.”

“By “bulldozing” through or passing the blame to others in any crisis, that is not the right attitude of a responsible Minister.”

“If a leader continues to fail to rectify the people’s problem, any action in the future, even it is in doing the right thing, will not be recognised, as one’s image had been tarnished! ”

He said the issue of the appointment of the various posts has long been swept underground. The ministry concerned should carry out a referendum on how the Sibu people, and other neutral parties, perceive the appointment of the deputy chairman of Sibu Municipal Council.

“I am only voicing out the public’s opinion, I am not fighting for my own political mileage, nor do I have any interest to be appointed to the post of community leaders or councillor.”

“In my Bintulu constituency I have been proposing and suggesting eligible candidates from the ground whose contribution are well acknowledged, while a lot of them are not from SPDP.”

“These phenomena have been pro-longed for the past six to seven years, and I wonder what will happen if only candidates from the BN are the only one proposed?

“The state election will be two years from now. As member of BN, one should minimise or at least try their best to solve all the outstanding issues, by proving their sincerity, management skills and the ability to gain back all the losing support, especially from the grass root”

“Of cause we can’t please or satisfy everyone but a successful leader is one who will gain the support of the majority .”

In fact, Tiong felt that an indicator of Chinese rebellious votes is their long outstanding discontentment. This have been indicated in the state election two terms ago. The “winds of change” had in fact blew from East to West (the peninsular).

In the Peninsular, one of the biggest ruling party (UMNO) has been facing party squabbling before, but yet managed to retain and regain the support of Bumiputra voters. Certain Chinese parties or leaders however, still failed to heed the people’s opinion and views.

“I do not wish to question why the loss of a two-third majority, but it is best to seek for solutions before it is too late”.

He stressed that one should not use other leaders in component parties as a stepping stone merely for his own political gains, or even to divert public attention from the main issue.

Bintulu, 03 February: The Member of Parliament for Bintulu, cum special envoy to the Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing JP, is disappointed that his earlier statement of the people’s opinions on the appointment of local councillors and community leaders were seen as carried out in a “dictatorial” manner, and was merely treated as an allegation by the minister.
