{"id":8826,"date":"2015-12-29T14:28:16","date_gmt":"2015-12-29T06:28:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=8826"},"modified":"2015-12-29T16:48:57","modified_gmt":"2015-12-29T08:48:57","slug":"helping-those-in-need","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.suppnewsportal.com\/main\/?p=8826","title":{"rendered":"Helping those in need"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sarawak United Peoples\u2019 Party (SUPP) Secretary general, Dato\u2019 Sebastian Ting is one man who would go out to help anyone in need and this time, he proved it again for a little girl, Athena Kho from Miri.<\/p>\n<p>When Ting heard of Athena&#8217;s hearing problem in October which could be treated if operated on, he wasted no time in arranging a press conference to help the family who is in need of financial assistance.<\/p>\n<p>Her mother, Jenny Wee had told him that Athena is her youngest of her five children and diagnosed with hearing problems after her birth on November 1.\u00a0 She has hearing problem and need to go for a cochlear implant that will cost RM140,000 or she would not be able to hear or talk.<\/p>\n<p>Tirelessly, Ting would go through the media to keep the flame alive for donation to come in and on November 25th thanked the people for their assistance and announced that the target for the donation was fulfilled.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday afternoon at 3.30 pm, Ting paid a visit to Athena, who was admitted in the Sarawak General hospital. He also arranged the Executive secretary of SUPP, Tonia Kon to liaise with Jenny as they were unfamiliar with being in Kuching.<\/p>\n<p>Ting said he was relieved that both parents were there to care for Athena who would be operated on December 30th.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am pleased to report that Athena is settling well in her new environment with both her parents and they have been getting a lot of good wishes and prayers from the people. Athena is still her usual high spirit self and is comfortable with her new environment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Although there was a needle pricked in her arm to prepare for any emergencies, Ting said Athena still managed to smile and tried to hi-five with him. He said even after leaving, she blew them a number of flying kisses which made even her anxious parents smile.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe, including her parents, were pleasantly surprised by her wonderful and amazing character.\u00a0 We are truly delighted and considered ourselves blessed by her.
