Our leaders from different component party including the Chief Minister himself, had raised concern on the matter.

Just recently, another case has got Sarawakains all worked up. When an Utaz was appointed a principal of SMK Sg. Paoh, naturally, parents from the predominantly Christians were unhappy. They voiced this to their elected YBs, hoping for guidance and convey their concern to the top leadership.

We in SUPP were also concerned about such appointment. First, it was not logic and practical for an Utaz to head a school where the majority of the students are Christians,” he pointed out.

Ting added that to make matter worst, the Principal is from Kelantan, a PAS governed State and the majority of Sarawakians are wary of PAS whose motive is just to shout about hudud law.

He hoped that the Education Ministry and the Federal government will be more sensitive to the parents.

“I am sure that there are a lot of talented and capable Sarawakians who could head a school. As this is the first time the parents have voiced out such unhappiness and concern, I hope that the Ministry would look seriously into the matter for a win-win situation. We really look forward to see the matter resolved soonest. Do not destroy the peace and harmony Sarawak enjoyed over illogical posting of educationalists,” he said.

Dato’ Sebastian Ting

In our Fair Land Sarawak, we, Sarawakians are considered the most fortunate than the rest of the country.
