The SUPP President YB Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian referred\u00a0 the recent meeting of the\u00a0 leaders of China and Taiwan with the relationship and interactions between the Sarawak Chinese community and the SUPP\u2019s state seats issues.<\/p>\n
Dr. Sim stressed that asking SUPP to give away seats to other parties, is not the way of uniting the Sarawak Chinese community.<\/p>\n
He pointed out that China and Taiwan did not allow any third party country to interfere with issues\u00a0 between them thereby creating a divisive situation.<\/p>\n
He added that similarly when touching on the unity of the Chinese community in Sarawak, some people used to\u00a0 refer to the parting of seats allocated to SUPP to other party. How could such way of thinking bring about the unity of the Chinese community?<\/p>\n
He\u00a0 stressed that in the past, the\u00a0 trend of political development was adopting the \u201cdivide and rule\u201d method. But now, he would never want to see the continuation of such\u00a0 practice, thereby dividing and depriving the rights of the Chinese.<\/p>\n
When addressing the\u00a0 opening ceremony of the medicated herbs exhibition\u00a0 jointly\u00a0 organized by the\u00a0 Sarawak Federation of Chinese Drugs and the Federation of Traditional Chinese Herbs and\u00a0 Supplementary Drugs Associations in Kuching, Dr. Sim said that the true\u00a0 meaning of unity is to stand and working together, without divisive\u00a0 intention.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen we talk of unity, it should be done like China and Taiwan, whereby we never allow any third party to\u00a0\u00a0 bluff the Sarawak Chinese or depriving their rights. Though one talks of unity, what he does were in fact\u00a0 dividing the Chinese causing damages to the Chinese community\u201d.<\/p>\n
He added that the meeting of the\u00a0 leaders of China and Taiwan,\u00a0 had created history. Though both sides\u00a0 had been divided for many years, the shaking hands of Xi and Ma in Singapore, had brought about\u00a0 the long expectation.\u00a0 The actions\u00a0 of the two leaders would nevertheless produce a bright future for the\u00a0 peoples of China and Taiwan.<\/p>\n
He stressed that as the Malaysian Chinese, he hopes that the meeting of Xi and Ma in Singapore could become an example for the Chinese in Malaysia to\u00a0 learn.<\/p>\n
Dr. Sim said that he had for long hoping the\u00a0 Chinese in Sarawak\u00a0 would in the\u00a0 spirit of unity,\u00a0 join hands to safeguard their interests and rights.<\/p>\n
