SUPP Central Youth firmly believes that the elected representatives (Members of Parliament and State Assemblymen) are duty-bound to help the people in their respective constituencies to handle and solve the problems that they are facing. However, SUPP Central Youth notes that there has been drastic \u201cChange\u201d or \u201cUbah\u201d in our nation\u2019s political landscape since the last General Election where a great number of opposition leaders won and got elected.<\/p>\n

Initially, the Rakyat had high hopes from these opposition YBs simply because they had promised the people that if elected, they would serve the people in their constituencies wholeheartedly. Sadly to say, the attitude of many opposition YBs, when asked to serve the people as well as their quality of service, is rather disappointing. In fact, most opposition YBs are only good at calling for press conferences or issuing press statements. They raised the issues but no realistic action was ever taken to help solve the problems.<\/p>\n

Opposition YBs are enjoying hefty monthly pay cheques and yet, \u201cwe are not the government\u201d, \u201cwe are not controlling the government agencies\u201d and \u201cwe do not possess the resources needed to solve the problems\u201d are just some of the excuses these YBs would tell the people who went to seek their help. Such irresponsible attitude is by all means not acceptable. To make the already bad situation even worse, some opposition YBs don\u2019t even have a functioning service centre!<\/p>\n

Unlike the opposition YBs, SUPP Central Youth does not merely talk about helping the less fortunate people, including senior citizens, people with special needs and those who live under the poverty line. SUPP Central Youth serves them irrespective of their racial or religious background. Above all, SUPP Central Youth serves with all sincerity and through real actions.<\/p>\n

Single mother Pui Nyet Fong who lost her house to a fire about a month ago, received good news from SUPP Central Youth Secretary General Wilfred Yap yesterday when the latter managed to get the Temporary Occupation License (TOL) renewed. With the TOL renewed, Pui is now able to rebuild her house on the same piece of land she and her children have been living on for many years.<\/p>\n

Wilfred Yap is known for his action-driven vigour where he firmly believes in the saying \u201caction speaks louder than words\u201d. When a promise is made, he said, \u201cI intend to keep it and make it happen, \u2018Janji Ditepati\u2019 (promise fulfilled) is what it is all about.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the people approached us seeking for our help, and when we have made our promises to them, we must put in our best effort no matter what. We should not brush them aside with endless excuses and betray their trust.
