President of Sarawak United Peoples\u2019 Party (SUPP) Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian, urged the people to discard the idea of SUPP as a \u2018towkay\u2019 party.\u00a0 He said\u00a0 the party has shed its \u2018towkay\u2019 image as indicated recently when they had gone out to seek fund to help a comrade pay court fees and fines due to a defamation case.<\/p>\n

Dr Sim stressed this in today’s (Dec 7) CWC meeting at the party’s HQ.<\/p>\n

He is happy that a number of transformation has taken place in the party since he took over during the last Triennial delegates conference. \u201cWe will go for a new style of doing things and it is good that we are more united and stronger than ever. Of all the changes made, we will not forget that under the SUPP\u2019s constitution, we will be giving our services to the people irrespective of race and religion. At the moment we are helping with BRIM distribution not only for the weekends but a number of branches have even opened their counters during weekdays,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Saying that politics has its ups and downs, Dr. Sim said the Chief Minister has affirmed for those in the BN family, he will assist in strengthening those who are already strong and for those who are weak, he will also help them to be strong.<\/p>\n

In SUPP, he said its leaders will continue to speak out without fear for the sake of the people.<\/p>\n

Throwing his support behind the Chief Minister, Sim said the Chief Minister had introduced a number of benefits for the people and SUPP will be there to assist in any way they can.<\/p>\n

The party will prove to the people that they are not here just to talk but to walk the talk.<\/p>\n

On UPP using the Barisan Nasional logo, Dr. Sim said the Secretary General had already written a letter to both the national BN and the Sarawak BN chairmen on the issue.<\/p>\n

He said the Chief Minister had emphasised in Bintulu on Saturday that Teras and UPP would not be allowed in as BN component parties as there are strong objections from the various BN members.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Chief minister had spoken on these many times and those who are in the know should not pretend not to know who the CM is referring to,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

For the month of January, Dr. Sim said he would be going around the branches in Sarawak to meet up with the younger generation. He said this is important as the future is for the younger generation and it is important for them to be in SUPP to make changes instead of just shouting from the outside.<\/p>\n
