SELAMAT PETANG, SALAM SEJASTHERA DAN SALAM SATU MALAYSIA.<\/p>\n

Bagi pihak JAWATANKUASA PUSAT SUPP serta JAWATANKUASA PENGANJUR, saya dengan rendah hati ucapkan Selamat Datang kepada YAB Perdana Menteri merangkap Pengerusi Kebangsaan BN ke Ibu Pejabat SUPP untuk meyempurnakan Majlis Perasmian Mesyuarat PERWAKILAN SUPP Ke-23 ini. Seluruh anggota SUPP berasa cukup bersyukur dan sangat gembira kerana YAB meluangkan masa untuk datang ke Kuching khususnya bagi tujuan ini walaupun cukup sibuk dalam urusan-urusan rasmi yang lain. Penghormatan yang ditunjukkan oleh YAB ini tentulah akan menjadi suntikan nafas baru bagi perwakilan sekalian untuk berkerja lebih gigih dan lebih bersungguh supaya Parti SUPP dapat bertransformasi sebagai parti politik yang efektif dan Kiat dalam BN. SUPP akan membuat segala persediaan \u00a0mempertahankan kerusi-kerusi DUN yang diagihkan kepada Parti SUPP pada Pilihanraya Negeri kelak.<\/p>\n

Saya ingin ambil kesempatan ini untuk ucapkan Selamat Datang kepada YAB Ketua Menteri Sarawak serta lain-lain Tetamu Kerhormat yang sudi meluangkan masa untuk menghadiri serta menyaksikan Majlis Perasmian Mesyuarat PERWAKILAN SUPP Yang Ke-23 pada petang yang mulia ini. Lawatan ini adalah kali pertama bagi YAB Ketua Menteri setelah mengambil alih jawatan Ketua Menteri pada bulan March yang lalu dan saya mewakili semua anggota SUPP mengucapkan tahniah dan Syabas atas kejayaan ini. SUPP berharap YAB Ketua Menteri akan terus memberi dorongan dan bimbingan kepada JAWATANKUASA PUSAT baru yang akan diwujudkan pada hari keesokan selepas selesainya pilihan dalaman.<\/p>\n

YAB PM dan YAB CM, saya dengan bangganya ingin melaporkan bahawa semua cawangan Parti diseluruh Negeri telah menjalankan tugas-tugas mereka dimana mereka telah mengadakan mesyuarat Agong dengan sempurna dengan mengikut Perlembagaan dan syarat-syarat tertentu. Disini saya ingin melafazkan perasaan cukup gembira dan terima kasih kepada YB Menteri Dalam Negeri serta Dato Pendaftar Pertubuhan Malaysia atas segala bantuan dan tunjuk ajar semasa pihak kami membuat rayuan serta perbincangan rasmi dan tidak rasmi. Episod yang pahit dan hitam yang dikenakan ke atas SUPP telah menunjukkan bahawa terdapat segelintir pemimpin SUPP yang sudi mala gairah untuk menghapuskan Parti yang berusir 55 tahun ini demi memenuhi agenda dan tujuan mereka tanpa mengambil kira apanya risiko tindakan-tindakan mereka. Episod ini telah berlalu dan mereka ini ada yang sudah dipecat da nada yang sudah keluar dari Parti. Saya telah difahamkan bahawa mereka ini kini adalah anggota Protem dalam Parti politik baru.<\/p>\n

YAB Prime Minister, it can be seen from statements made by these ex SUPP leaders and members, the intention of this new party to attract existing members of SUPP to join them on the pretext that these SUPP members have been or are being sidelined by the present leadership. If this is the new Party’s goal as I am confident there will not be many members of SUPP who will be willing to join them. Sir, but I am worried if the new Party is allowed to act and behave as if the new Party is a de facto BN component member. It is just incongrous that a newly formed party, especially one which is being formed by disgruntled ex SUPP leaders, (an off-shoot of very senior BN component party), can have the luxury to claim that it is allowed to act and behave as a component party of the BN either at State or National level. SUPP is unhappy that the very same people, who had tried to deregister SUPP on allegations of non compliances of constitutional requirements, etc during the party’s 2011 Delegates Conference, are now in a position to claim that they are entitled to be in BN and are entitled to the constituency seats which they had won under the BN\/SUPP banner in the 2011 State elections. SUPP will certainly oppose to any such back-door tactic to gain entry into the BN and SUPP has been given the verbal assurances by a few YB Presidents of BN component parties that they too do not want to see such so-called BN friendly parties being admitted into BN unless the constitutional requirement of unaminity is complied with. I am confident that BN is fair and will stick to the well-tried formula of the past to not allow newly formed parties such as United Peoples Party or UPP to be admitted into the BN fold unless every existing component party has agreed to their admission.<\/p>\n

Sir, I like to appeal to YAB Ketua Menteri and the State BN Chairman to be fair to the interests of SUPP as a senior component Party in the BN. Although SUPP as a matter of principle does not necessarily agree with your decision to keep Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh in the State Cabinet, we nevertheless respect your decision as a member of the State BN. However, it should be pointed out that Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh is heading a new party which is not a BN component party and consequently his decisions as a Senior Minister are adversely affecting SUPP’s POLITICAL STRENGHT with regards to matters pertaining to local government appointments as well as appointments of Ketua Kaum and Ketua Masyarakat, especially those from the Chinese community. SUPP wants fair play so we appeal to YAB Ketua Menteri to intervene by reviewing all such appointments since 2011 or, at the very least, stop such appointments going into the future.<\/p>\n

YAB Prime Minister, SUPP is a loyal partner of the BN since 1970. I like to echo what YAB Ketua Menteri said when he attended the 55th Anniversary of our Party on 8th August and he expressed the sentiments that SUPP being the oldest political party in Sarawak could not be deregistered by the Registrar of Society. SUPP as a political party which had effectively represented the Chinese community for a long time until we began to loose urban seats to the Opposition. However, our party’s structure is still intact and our Party’s leadership is still passionate to rebuild and transform the Party. This Triennial Delegates Conference will see many changes in the leadership; in particular, a new President will take over from me to helm the Party into the next State elections. Please do not give up on SUPP’s prowess to attract support from the urban voters in the State as SUPP can still put up a good fight against the Opposition parties in the State.<\/p>\n

Sir, it is not my intention to treat this speech as a complaint session. I do apologise if I sounded that way. You are our chief in the BN so I just want to bring some important facts and arguments to your attention before I officially “leave the scene”. Thank you for your kind patience, Sir.<\/p>\n

Dengan kata-kata ini, saya sekali lagi ucapkan ribuan terima kasih kepada YAB Dato Sri Hj Mohd Najib Bin Tun Razak, Perdana Menteri Malaysia atas keprihatinan beliau untuk hadir dan merasmikan Majlis Pembukaan Mesyuarat PERWAKILAN SUPP Ke-23 pada petang yang mulia ini. Pada masa yang sama, saya ucapkan berbanyak terima kasih kepada Tan Sri Datuk Amar Hj Adenan Satem, Ketua Menteri Sarawak kerana sudi hadir bersama dan seterusnya memberi ucapan dalam Majlis ini. Kita berdoa kepada Tuhan bahawa kedua-dua pemimpin utama ini senantiasa sihat dan alfiat untuk terus membawa Negeri dan Negara ke suatu tahap kemajuan dan kemakmuran yang lebih tinggi lagi.<\/p>\n
