SUPP President, Tan Sri Peter Chin reminded the Youth delegates that the most important thing in politics is winning the seats.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening of the Youth TDC today, Chin who\u00a0 will be retiring after the TDC 2014, said winning the seats is one of the most core point of politics thus the party have to strive hard to win back lost seats.<\/p>\n

During the last state and parliamentary election, SUPP suffered heavy losses.<\/p>\n

Chin called on the new team to ensure that they must sit down and asked themselves what was wrong with the party. They must do everything to gain back the confidence and support of the people. “If we fail in the next election, don’t give up. Work towards winning in the next one,” he said.<\/p>\n

Stating that the Youth Wing is an important arm of the party, Chin pointed out that as youths they have the energy and must have the focus to go to the ground to win back the support and confidence of the people. They must work hand in hand with the other sections and also with the Barisan Nasional Components. \u201cAll these are important for the party growth,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He expressed his regrets that he did not spend much time with the Youth Wing\u00a0when he was President. \u201cThe three years I have was very unfortunate. We were\u00a0involved in internal conflicts and the party was almost de-registered. The party was so unstable. Our energy was spend on how to prevent that and it is very sad,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Saying that the party has now come together, he said they were all concerned that the party should do better. \u201cThose who have retired, the Youth can always contact us for a get together. If there is anything we can do to help, feel free to call us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Chin said no one can just brush off the SUPP. \u201cWe have 55 years of rich history. Do not look down on us. \u201cOur enemies are outside. Thus we must head towards the same goal. Focus on how, what we can do. So there is only one way, unite and focus towards the future and do your best,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Glad\u00a0 that almost all the youth delegates were present, Chin told them that learning is a daily phase of life and everyone, young or old must learn as they go on with life.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are considered young, all below 45. So buck\u00a0 up and work hard to let your talent shine through. And one day, you may end up being a good leader through what you have learned in life. You can be a leader in\u00a0any way,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Advising them not to be extreme or rude, Chin said a good leader is humble\u00a0and listen to all views as there is no necessity to shout to be heard.<\/p>\n

Apologizing to Tan Kai for not spending time with him and his youth, Chin\u00a0said he did have a bit of regret there but due to the dark phase of the party, he has no choice. He believed that the next president would spend more time with the Youth wing and nurture them.<\/p>\n
