Sentosa Assemblyman, Wilfred Yap said today marks the 67th Anniversary of the Sarawak United Peoples\u2019 Party (SUPP), a significant milestone in the history of Sarawak\u2019s oldest political party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said for 67 years, SUPP has remained steadfast in its mission to serve the people of Sarawak and to champion policies that are fair, inclusive, moderate, and beneficial to all communities regardless of race, religion, or background. Since its founding in 1959, SUPP has consistently fought to ensure that every Sarawakian has a place in our state’s development and progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Throughout its long history, SUPP has earned the trust of the people by being a responsible, reliable and pragmatic political force. While political trends and slogans may come and go, SUPP has remained focused on what matters most, protecting the interests of Sarawakians and delivering tangible improvements to people’s lives, ” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yap said as a key component party within GPS, SUPP continues to play an important role in safeguarding the fair and inclusive policies of the GPS-led Sarawak Government. These policies have ensured that development reaches all communities, that opportunities are shared fairly, and that Sarawak’s unique rights and interests continue to be protected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said in contrast to the political instability and endless power struggles witnessed elsewhere in Malaya, Sarawak under GPS has remained focused on long-term planning, economic growth, and social harmony. This stability has allowed the GPS Sarawak Government to pursue transformative initiatives in infrastructure, education, healthcare, digital connectivity, renewable energy, and economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the ongoing upgrading of Kota Sentosa Town Square, improvements to community facilities, assistance to schools, places of worship and community organisations through MRP grants, as well as continuous infrastructure improvements through RTP projects demonstrate a government focused on delivery rather than political theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yap said SUPP and GPS focus on building, delivering and solving problems and Sarawak today under the leadership of GPS enjoys strong fiscal reserves, increasing revenues, growing investor confidence, and international recognition in areas such as renewable energy, the digital economy, and sustainable development. These achievements are the result of stable leadership, responsible governance, and a clear vision for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As SUPP celebrates its 67th Anniversary, we reaffirm our commitment to remain a trusted guardian of fairness, inclusivity, moderation, and good governance within GPS. SUPP will continue to speak up for the people, safeguard Sarawak’s interests, and ensure that development benefits every community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
