Padawan Municipal Councillor Gerald Goh has welcomed the installation of a new fire hydrant at Jalan Ketitir, describing it as the result of more than two decades of persistent advocacy by residents and continuous efforts by community leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goh said resident Chai Chien Sheng had been raising concerns about the lack of functional fire hydrants in the area for over 20 years. Although three hydrants originally served the neighbourhood, all had gradually become non operational, prompting numerous reports and appeals to restore the facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognising the importance of public safety, the SUPP N13 Batu Kitang Service Team led by Batu Kitang assemblyman Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang consistently pursued the matter with the relevant authorities, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe absence of operational fire hydrants in an area that still has a significant number of wooden houses and residential properties poses a serious risk to lives and property in the event of a fire emergency,\u201d said Goh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that resolving the long standing issue at Jalan Ketitir had been one of his priorities since being appointed as a councillor of Padawan Municipal Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am delighted to witness the installation of a new fire hydrant today after years of persistent efforts by residents and all parties involved. This is an important milestone for the community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goh expressed his appreciation to the Fire and Rescue Department for its commitment and consideration in addressing the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, he noted that Jalan Ketitir is a large residential area and a single hydrant may not be sufficient to provide comprehensive emergency coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI sincerely hope that at least two additional fire hydrants can be installed in the vicinity to further enhance the safety and preparedness of the community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
