\u201cFuel cuts ease today\u2019s pressure, but they do not solve tomorrow\u2019s challenges. Sarawak needs practical, long-term policies from the federal government that reduce transport costs and strengthen household resilience,\u201d Yap said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed that Sarawak\u2019s large size and limited public transport force most families to rely on private vehicles. Yap called for federal measures such as strengthening MYBas services, targeted transport assistance for low-income students, incentives for hybrid and electric vehicles, more EV charging facilities, and greater allocations for affordable housing to reduce commuting costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSarawak contributes immensely to the federal coffers through our oil and gas resources. It is only fair that we receive stronger federal assistance to improve transport, housing, and cost-of-living support. Sarawakians deserve to see a greater return from the resources we provide,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
