Sarawak is ready to lead in the convergence of artificial intelligence and sustainability, said Batu Kitang State Assemblyman Dato Ir. Lo Khere Chiang during the opening of the “AI Meets Sustainability \u2013 Sarawak” forum on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his welcome speech, Lo extended his appreciation to Univers, Arc Technologies, and the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) for organising the event and choosing Sarawak as the host.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are honoured and proud to support such a meaningful event,\u201d he said, addressing a hall of local and international attendees including industry leaders, policymakers, and academics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lo said the forum\u2019s theme was not only timely but necessary, stressing the importance of integrating technology and environmental responsibility in modern development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn today\u2019s fast-changing world, combining digital technology with climate action is no longer a luxury but it is a responsibility we all share,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting Sarawak\u2019s development agenda, he noted that technology remains a vital part of the state\u2019s journey forward. He pointed to the Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030 as a clear indicator of the government\u2019s commitment to both clean energy and digital transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThrough the Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030, he said we aim to become a regional leader in smart infrastructure and green innovation,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are building a future that is not only sustainable \u2014 but intelligent, connected, and inclusive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lo emphasised that progress cannot happen in isolation. He underscored the importance of partnerships between government, private sector, academia, and technology providers in addressing global sustainability challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvents like this remind us that collaboration is our most powerful tool,\u201d he added. \u201cTo solve real-world challenges, we must work together.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He welcomed the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) during the event, describing them as \u201ca strong sign of action \u2014 not just words.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs I\u2019ve often said, if we want to build a better Sarawak, we must think ahead. Innovation is not just a tool \u2014 it is the mindset that will shape our future,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event, held in Kuching, brought together thought leaders to discuss how artificial intelligence can support green development, environmental stewardship, and efficient resource use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lo concluded his remarks by encouraging attendees to collaborate, share knowledge, and form meaningful partnerships that would extend beyond the forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
