Kuching South City Councillors Tay Tze Kok and Liew Leong Yee, along with their team and community leaders, organized a Woman’s Day celebration event featuring both appreciation gestures and community services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team distributed roses to women as a symbol of appreciation and respect. They also set up a mobile service counter to assist the public with various community-related matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

International Women\u2019s Day is not only a celebration of women\u2019s progress in peace, equality, and development but also an opportunity for society to reflect on promoting gender equality and enhancing women\u2019s welfare. The event attracted dozens of women and over a hundred participants, reflecting strong support for women\u2019s contributions and rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the event, Tay emphasized his deep respect and appreciation for the role of women in society. He expressed his hope for a world where gender equality is upheld, enabling everyone to thrive in a fair and inclusive society that drives national progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was born and raised in Padungan, and throughout my life, I have witnessed the immense sacrifices women make for their families and communities. My own mother\u2019s dedication to our family has profoundly shaped my understanding of the vital role women play in our society,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further added, \u201cWomen in Padungan have devoted themselves selflessly to their families and society. They are not only the first teachers of their children but also key contributors to social harmony. We must recognize and respect their hard work while ensuring their rights are protected. True gender equality must be the foundation of a progressive society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond celebrating women\u2019s achievements, the event highlighted the team\u2019s commitment to grassroots engagement and community service. By setting up a mobile service counter, the team engaged directly with residents, listening to their concerns and providing assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tay emphasized that national progress depends on unity, mutual respect, and inclusivity. He called on all sectors of society to continue advocating for women\u2019s rights, ensuring a future where gender equality and equal opportunities become a reality for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
