On the 9th Jun 2014, seven former members of our party, namely YB Datuk Jerip Susil, YB Ranun Mina, YB Dr Johnical Rayong, Shilling Banggit, Datuk Tiong Thai King, Mdm Suzanne Lee and Mr. Sia Jii Ming commenced a Judicial Review application in Kuala Lumpur High Court against the Registrar of Societies (\u201cROS\u201d), the ultimate object of which is to cause the de-registration of our party on the ground that the ROS had erred in not doing so.<\/p>\n

These ex members and others like-minded people, had on many occasions attempted to justify the Kuala Lumpur\u2019s court action by alleging electoral irregularities in the Party\u2019s 2011 election and it was, according to them, so bad that SUPP must be de-registered.<\/p>\n

Our Party, fully convinced that the Kuala Lumpur court action was ill founded had recently applied to be heard and intervened in order to oppose it and our application was scheduled to be heard today, the\u00a025th July 2014. Our legal advisors were confident that our Party would be allowed to be heard and intervene and eventually defeat the Judicial Review Application on its merit. We are therefore not surprised that today, the seven applicants decided to withdraw their court action. This withdrawal is a vindication to our Party. We like to emphasize that the ROS, had investigated the 2011 party\u2019s election and also accepted our Party\u2019s explanation which culminated in the decision on April 30 2014 not to de-register our Party. Sadly, after the ROS\u2019s decision, there are some, who though claiming to be Party members, pursued an agenda to deregister SUPP. Their action speaks louder than word, and so, we are very amused, when it was claimed that it was \u201ca show of magnanimity\u201d to let \u201cbygones be by bygones\u201d, when that should have been the case before they filed the Court action. Their claimed hope \u201cthat together we can move on to provide political stability and harmony in Sarawak\u201d, with respect, sounds very hollow. Having said so many bad things of SUPP and its leadership we do not think such statement is convincing at all.<\/p>\n

It was also claimed that the withdrawal of the Court action was linked to their ability to now serve the people through UPP. We have our doubt because prior to that they already claimed to have a new platform in a new Party Teras only to leave and formed UPP. That all these happened within such short time looks more like a scripted plan to destroy SUPP in order to supplant SUPP\u2019s role in Sarawak. We shall not allow that to happen and would do our utmost to rejuvenate and reinvigorate our Party to become a strong and effective Political Party. In this connection, our coming election in August 2014 will be the start of a new beginning.<\/p>\n

SUPP remains committed to the Barisan Nasional, and would defend its rightful place within the coalition, and will work closely with all component parties to serve the people of Sarawak and Malaysia to its fullest. We also continue our unwavering support to our Prime Minister and Chief Minister\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n
