To prevent misuse, the funds will be distributed via the S Pay Global e-wallet, aligning with Sarawak\u2019s push towards digital payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SKAS assistance is categorized as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>RM800 for families earning RM5,000 or below<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>RM250 for singles earning RM2,500 or below<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>M400 for seniors aged 60 and above with an income of RM5,000 or below<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Ting highlighted that SKAS not only provides crucial support to needy families but also encourages digital transactions in rural and remote areas. The government is expanding its partnerships with supermarkets and retailers to ensure beneficiaries can conveniently purchase necessities. Relevant merchant information will be accessible through the S Pay Global website and app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decision to distribute SKAS aid through S Pay Global aims to prevent fund misuse while promoting a cashless economy\u2014an approach widely adopted in countries like Singapore and now being actively implemented in Sarawak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The briefing, organized by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), featured speakers from the Sarawak Economic Planning Unit (EPU), the Public Service Digitalisation Unit (SCSDU), and S Pay Global, who provided insights into SKAS policies and application procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of now, 17 registration points have been established across 15 state constituencies and five parliamentary constituencies in the northern region\u201412 in Miri, three in Bintulu, and two in Limbang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ting urged all eligible individuals who have not yet applied to complete their registration as soon as possible. He also encouraged constituencies to intensify SKAS outreach efforts to ensure the program reaches and benefits grassroots communities effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of now, more than 530,000 people in Sarawak have completed their applications for the Sarawak Basic Living Assistance (SKAS) program. However, approximately 340,000 eligible individuals have yet to submit their applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the fourth phase list of SKAS (STR) for 2024, released by the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN), a total of 886,288 people in Sarawak qualify for this aid. This includes 410,529 families, 361,295 singles, and 114,464 senior citizens. So far, 538,155 beneficiaries (60.7%) have successfully applied for SKAS through S Pay Global, while the remaining 348,133 (39.3%) have yet to complete their applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the northern region, which includes Bintulu, Miri, and Limbang, there are 214,699 SKAS beneficiaries\u201424.22% of Sarawak\u2019s total. Among them, 118,347 (55.12%) have submitted their applications, while 96,352 (44.88%) have yet to do so. The SKAS application period runs from February 1 to March 31, 2025, allowing eligible individuals to submit new applications or appeal rejected ones. To date, 15,243 people have submitted new applications through the SKAS system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To further promote SKAS, the Sarawak government held a briefing on Sarawak ID registration and SKAS applications at the Electronic Library this afternoon.
