After the devastating impact of recent flooding, local authorities have launched a comprehensive Post-Flooding Cleanup Program to assist affected residents and businesses in returning to a safe and healthy environment, said Miri Mayor, Adam Yii.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the program is designed to provide timely, efficient, and thorough cleanup and recovery efforts, ensuring that all impacted areas are cleared of debris and flood-related damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Post-Flooding Cleanup Program is a joint initiative by local government agencies, emergency response teams, and community volunteers. It focuses on removing water-damaged materials, debris, and any hazardous waste that may pose a health risk to residents and first responders.
Debris Removal: Local authorities are deploying teams to remove large debris, downed trees, and waste materials from residential and commercial areas. Special attention is given to areas with heavy flooding, ensuring that all roads are cleared for safe passage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yii added that since the flooding disaster happened, the debris removal has been on-going and in order to boost the cleanup activities, the City Council had organized 3 series of Cleanup Program, involving the volunteers from various agencies, NGOs, institutions, and many more. The first program was held on 6th Feb 2025 at Kampung Pujut Sungai Adong area, followed by another program on 8th Feb 2025 at Kampung Pujut Tanjung Batu, and the recent program was held on 11th Feb 2025 at Desa Senadin and Damai Jaya area.

Mega Cleanup Program @ 16th February 2025 (8am until 12.30 pm) \u2013 concurrent at 5 zones: Zone 1 \u2013 Lutong (Kampung Pengkalan Lutong & Kampung Pasir); Zone 2 \u2013 Tudan (Tudan Desaras & Tudan Ph. 4 & 5); Zone 3 \u2013 Permyjaya (Desa Indah 3, Desa Murni & Desa Pujut 2); Zone 4 \u2013 Pujut (Pujut 4 until 9); and Zone 5 \u2013 RPR Batu 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fogging activities will also be done to eliminate the adult insects and larvae, reducing the risk of an outbreak. This includes cleaning and disinfecting public spaces, businesses, and residential properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yii said the Post-Flooding Cleanup Program is a critical step toward restoring our communities in the aftermath of the flooding. With the collective effort of local authorities, volunteers, and community members, we aim to rebuild safer, stronger, and more resilient neighborhoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
