Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting expressed concern about the three recent house break-ins and robberies in Miri, and called on the public to exercise caution and look out for one another by reporting to the police immediately if they see suspicious strangers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ting paid a visit to Miri Police District ACP Alexson Naga today to talk about the preventive measures taken by the police in response to the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said at 5 am on the 20 of this month, he received a call for help from a mother in Peak Garden, stating that her son was awakened by footsteps in the living room and saw a robber entering the house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police were called but the culprit was nowhere to be seen when patrol officers arrived at the scene. Fortunately, the family was not harmed. \u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alexon said that the police were concerned about this robbery and had mobilized police dogs to conduct a comprehensive investigation. \u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He pointed out that preliminary police investigations showed that the target residences chosen by the robbers often did not have safety security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Urging the public to put grills, surveillance cameras and anti-theft systems, Alexson said the targeted house usually have jungles or grass behind the house which provide an escape route for the robbers. \u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n
