The Sarawak Progressive Democratic People (SPDP) party will not accept the new formed parties into the state Barisan Nasional (BN) components, be it Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) or United People\u2019s Party (UPP), a splinter party of Teras, said SPDP President Dato\u2019 Sri Tiong King Sing today.\u2019<\/p>\n

Tiong was commenting on a statement by PBB senior vice-president Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan by saying that BN Sarawak will accept the UPP soon, as his personal view.<\/p>\n

He said SPDP, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Sarawak United People Party\u00a0had already made their stand that they would not accept Teras or any splinter new party into BN. He said Tengah cannot force them to accept the two parties.<\/p>\n

Tiong said the two new parties won the election through the BN ticket and not on individual capability.<\/p>\n

He said some party leaders in BN are not sensitive to the component parties like them.<\/p>\n

Pointing out that Teras claimed to have many SPDP members joining them was to frighten the BN leaders but in SPDP, they are confident of winning the next election.<\/p>\n

Tiong said SPDP and other component parties will look after the interest of all races unlike Teras for Dayaks and UPP for Chinese.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Milton Foo from SUPP said Awang Tengah\u2019s statement that Barisan Nasional Sarawak will accept the United People\u2019s party ( UPP) soon is a blatant disregard to the Chief Minister\u2019s Tan Sri Adenan\u2019s Satem directive.<\/p>\n

Foo said such a statement as not only being unfriendly but also poses a deliberate challenge to the parties\u2019 stand on the issue.<\/p>\n

He said Tengah\u2019s statement is openly disregarding the directive not to talk to the press on the issue of admission of new party into the coalition, but also a provocation to the three party principles.<\/p>\n

Foo further added that if Awang Tengah is striving for the unity in BN, he should not make a statement which hurt and \u00a0show disrespect to other component parties.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0reiterated that it is a resolute rule of BN that all component parties must agree\u00a0and come to a consensus before any new party, be it UPP or Teras, can be admitted into the BN coalition. As a matter of both legal\u00a0and moral principle, this conventional rule must be strictly adhered to by all component parties, including PBB, in order to preserve\u00a0and strengthen the unity in BN at no expense nor compromise.<\/p>\n
