Deputy chief minister, Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian offers his sincerest gratitude to Chief Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg for his confidence and trust for appointing him to the position of Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government in his new cabinet line-up announced yesterday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said he humbly resolve to honour that trust, and look forward to give his very best alongside his colleagues and fellow Sarawakians, to work hard for the betterment of all “anak-anak” Sarawak including the Sarawakian Chinese community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It’s also very personal for me and my family. My late father, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Sim Kheng Hong was first appointed as Minister For Local Government of Sarawak in 1970 and appointed as Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak in 1974 (under CM Tun Rahman Ya’kub and later CM Tun Taib Mahmud). I was appointed as Minister For Local Government of Sarawak in 2016 and became Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak in 2021 (under CM Adenan Satem and CM Abg Jo – both were my late father\u2019s Cabinet minister colleague). Coincidentally, my current office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya was the same office of my late father.
This year also marked the 10th years that I involved in active politics, ” he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Sim said interestingly though his late father and him ended in Sarawak politics holding almost the similar positions in government, they started from different paths. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said his father was a hard working contractor, later successful timber merchant before politics while he was blessed to be a public hospital cardiologist and clinical researcher holding professional office @ national and international level before entering politics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
